What does the use of metaphor in this passage... ngh. Dammit.

[He screws up a piece of paper, hurls it across the room, not really looking at the direction it flies in.]

[It's the middle of the day, and somehow Tomas is awake?? There are various sheets spread out on his desk while he types away on his laptop. If you look closer, there are a few newspapers sticking out as well, mostly the sports pages.]

They didn't place again this year... Guess I'll keep an eye on SD State... or maybe UCI... Gonzaga...

[When he realizes the feed is on, he quickly shuts his laptop.]

Ah-! Good afternoon, everyone. I hope you're enjoying your afternoon. Speaking of, we'll be discussing Julius Caesar and anachronisms in writing. Be prepared to show examples.

[Isn't it a little late to be posting

A very pleased Tomas is waving to the screen. With him is a stack of poems and his ever-present coffee cup.]

Good evening, students and faculty alike.

I have been highly inspired thanks to that charity auction. So much in fact that I've decided to assign my classes something special: a poem, story, or essay on what makes you the happiest. It is to be turned in by Monday evening.

Mr. Yuui, I believe? You won me for two hundred, and I would like to ask how would you like to go about this? While I am flattered a young gentleman bid on me, but I am fully willing to offer these in place of a date.

[He points to the poetic pile.]

Hello, students.

I'm almost through with evaluating the stories and I must say I'm pleased. Many of you have a knack for creativity, and I most certainly look forward to your future work. I will be handing them back this Tuesday.

For those in my Journalism class, your essays are due this Wednesday. Please keep the minimum essay length in mind as it needs to be at least three pages. Preferably without coffee stains.

If you have questions, I will be up for a little while longer.

[And by a little while he probably means around 4am.]
