Hey.

[Feliks appears on screen as usual -- colorfully dressed, and brightly smiling.]

So, like, if no one else wants to, I'm gonna be taking care of the theatre club, at least for a while! Costume Club's still gonna be a thing, too, though. And classes are gonna start soon, so you should all totally sign up for mine!

...Um.

[He sighs, dropping the Everything's Normal act for a moment or two, because there's really no way to act happy about it.]

There's. Gonna be a memorial service Saturday, at Holy Cross. Everyone's invited.

[Private to members of the rescue team]

[He's a lot more somber in this recording.]

...Thanks for your hard work back there. I know it was tough, and like, I know a lot of us are feeling pretty messed up about it? So, um. If you need to talk. Like. You know where to find me.
knighterrantofthedragon: Alric smiling faintly from in front (head-on smile)
[personal profile] knighterrantofthedragon
[Alric opens his video to the other student officers with his characteristic friendly but somewhat reserved smile.]

Fellow members of the student council. I hope you all are well, and that you've each had ample opportunity to catch your breath.

I believe it's time we get together formally. I had hoped to do so earlier, but as we all know, more pressing matters imposed themselves. If there are no objections, I suggest we meet on Monday, the fifteenth, at five o'clock. We'll use an empty class room. Scheduling and arrangements for future meetings will be one matter on the agenda.

More pressingly, however, we need to discuss what we can do to support our fellow students following the recent, distressing events on campus. I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the matter, as well as any concerns you might have, yourselves, or have heard among your classmates and friends, that we ought to address. I'd also like to look toward what we can do to help ensure that the Institute is the positive symbol I believe it is meant to be, although that is a matter to be addressed farther down the line.

Please let me know if there's a need to reschedule--and, of course, if there is anything else with which I can help.
knighterrantofthedragon: Alric staring ahead intensely (intense)
[personal profile] knighterrantofthedragon
[Alric comes on the screen looking quite serious. He's in a pretty sharp dress shirt, as usual, but his expression is uncommonly stern--mostly pensive, but perhaps a bit cross, as well, and almost certainly more so than most of the school has seen him before. Except perhaps his opponents during sword matches, he does get a bit intense when he's fencing.]

I will assume we all have heard the news broadcast from Director Fury of SHIELD. I must admit it is not the source from which I would have expected or hoped to receive news of such an ultimatum. However, as there is seemingly a choice before us, I would ask to confer with all other student government officers. Given the limit on time, network responses will suffice. I suggest all students express their concerns to their respresentatives, first, but I don't intend to turn away anyone who feels they have something best said to me directly.

[He pauses a moment, glancing down, out of frame, then back to the camera again, his expression at least somewhat softened.]

The decisions we make will obviously have repercussions and broader ramifications for many of us, and depending on the events of the next several days, perhaps nationwide or globally. This being said, I ask only that we all proceed with forethought, integrity, and good will--for our fellow students, and the way in which coming events will reflect upon human beings of all categories, whatever abilities they may have or lack.

I will propose at the outset that, should negotiations with SHIELD fail to materialize or otherwise break down, those students who cannot fight or wish not to be provided shelter, and protected by a team or teams prepared to focus solely on ensuring those students' safety. Should we decide we must make a dangerous stand, those who came here for safety and learning should not pay the price of our choice.

I have high hopes that the faculty will be receptive to our concerns in this matter, and I will make every effort to reconcile our diverse perspectives in as satisfying a manner as possible.

Thank you for your time.

knighterrantofthedragon: Alric smiling pensively (Pensive smile)
[personal profile] knighterrantofthedragon
[Alric comes on the screen well-dressed yet somewhat casual, as usual: a burgundy dress shirt wit the topmost button undone, fairly typical for him. Also typical, he smiles politely and amiably, his bearing all respectfulness and approachability.]

Good day, Xavier Institute. I would like to extend my congratulations to all of our new student government officers, particularly Miss Lenz's notable write-in victory, and Mister Halford's surprising double victory.

[...in fairness, mostly surprising because he didn't think it worked like that, but he's not the one making the rules. At least, not for this past election, certainly. He's not going to dwell on it, though, since it is an accomplishment, and he certainly doesn't mean to detract from it.]

I've outlined previously my own perspective on my responsibilities as student council president, as well as my priorities and intentions. However, I would like to reiterate that among those is a responsibility to represent as best I am able the wishes and needs of my fellow students, and the intention to approach that responsibility with the utmost seriousness. It is my sincere hope that any of you who have suggestions, requests, objections, or merely a wish to discuss matters of policy in an official capacity, should find me accessible. Please do not hesitate to contact myself, or any other council officer with whom you feel comfortable speaking, although I do recommend becoming acquainted with your class representatives.

Barring the unlikely need for an emergency council meeting, scheduling of formal council meetings will begin with the end of the semester, to permit our new officers the opportunity to organize their agendas and prioritize the completion of their classwork.

[He smiles just a bit more playfully with a courteous nod to the camera.]

May you all enjoy a merciful finals season.
knighterrantofthedragon: Alric smiling faintly from in front (head-on smile)
[personal profile] knighterrantofthedragon
[Alric comes on screen from his room, well-dressed as usual, with a polite, restrained smile.]

Good morning, fellow students of the Xavier Institute.

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Alric Caelegart, and I will be running for the office of president of the student body.

[He pauses a moment.]

Although I have been reluctant to emphasize it, the better to relate to you, my colleagues and fellow students, it is a matter of public record and perhaps relevant to my administrative qualifications that I am also Crown Prince of the kingdom of Kaitheny. As such, I have had the advantage of an education in matters of diplomacy and administration, as well as first-hand experience in council chambers and as an ambassadorial aide. As such, I have experience representing the concerns of others in a council setting--precicely the foremost responsibility, as I see it, of the student body president.

Personally, I am here because I am dedicated to the cause of forging more amicable, mutually sympathetic relations between those of us with powers, and those of us without. It has been my experience that emphasizing our differences is not only destructive, but misguided. However. While our politics may differ, if elected, I shall consider my acceptance of the office an oath to serve as a faithful representative, and I take my oaths very seriously.
knighterrantofthedragon: Alric looking aside pensively (pensive)
[personal profile] knighterrantofthedragon
[Alric has been having some problems, lately. Although pride would argue it's best to keep charging ahead until everything's sorted out, there's a point at which good leadership involves putting pride away and asking for advice. Contacting two of the most mentor-like people he knows at the institute (at least, to his mind), his expression was polite, as usual, but obviously troubled.]

[To Xavier]
Professor. I hate to trouble you, but I was not certain who might be better qualified. I have been making efforts to befriend a fellow student, Tiamaris, of whom you may have heard. I speak to you on the subject because my efforts have more than one led him to a state of extreme distrss, and having learned from him certain details of his past, I fear--embarrassing as it is to admit--that he may need wiser and more experienced council than I am capable of providing. At the very least, any guidance you can offer as to how best I might aid him, moving forward, would be most sincerely appreciated.

[To Hijikata]
Hijikata-sensei. I apologize for disturbing you outside of class, but I hoped you might be able to advise me on something of a personal matter.

[He hesitates briefly, before continuing.]

I was raised to attain, in time, a position of authority, of leadership. It is important to me in... many ways--as a matter of pride, yes, but also of duty, of identity. Like anyone, of course, I have had moments of doubt when faced with great adversity, but I must confess, none has been quite so challenging as my time here. I feel as though my attempts to pursue and gain experience in leadership here have been, if you would excuse the perhaps unseemly candor, unmitigated failures, and I am not certain how to rectify the situation.

We've spoken on occasion regarding matters of philosophy and swordsmanship; I have reason to trust in your perception of these matters, and I believe you have expressed a willingness in the past to sponsor a team on my behalf. I would be most appreciative of any guidance you can offer on this subject.
knighterrantofthedragon: Alric smiling faintly from in front (head-on smile)
[personal profile] knighterrantofthedragon
[Alric seems a bit more troubled--or at least more serious--than usual (which might be alarming to people who think he's impossibly serious normally). He smiles, politely, but his manner is a little more stern and pensive, something other members of the kendo club would likely have noticed. He pauses a second after turning on the video, before speaking.]

Fellow students. I have been thinking seriously about forming a team for some time. Since the beginning of the semester, I felt I had the luxury of focusing, above all, on protocol--deciding on the ideal foundation and mission statement for this team, before extending invitations.

[A brief pause--perhaps to gather his thoughts or perhaps rhetorical.]

However.

Recent events have lent a far greater urgency to the matter. So. My intention is to establish a team prepared for purposes of intervention. Ours is, plainly, a dangerous world, due to individuals with ill intent, be they mutant or otherwise. Given Professor Xavier's blessing, of course, I believe it would be in keeping both with my own oaths, and with the intent of the Institute, to form a team dedicated to representing the best that mutant citizens have to offer society. I believe there is much we can offer--to protect, with respect for the law, those who we can, and to offer our aid where possible. Perhaps, if we are able to do so with a measure of aptitude and wisdom, we may be able to help turn the tide of fear preemptively.

Such a team would need to be prepared for combat, if necessary, capable of fast response and deployment as needed, and, ideally, able to provide relief and protection to those in harm's way. Coordination with local authorities and regular patrolling may be vital, as well. Our training would prioritize those objectives. I would be glad to hear from any who are interested and do not have prior commitments, and am open to additional suggestions.

Mr. Hijikata: I've spoken to you about my intentions, before, in brief. I would be honored if, given these details, you still wish to support this endeavor.

Hey!

So like, I've been thinking. I know Mutants Aren't Monsters has been kinda quiet lately, 'cause I've been studying and X-man-ing and in Europe and stuff, but with all this stuff going down lately, I totally wanna get back on it.

Who wants to do a flash mob? It'll be super fun!

Oh, and like, my confessor was all like "the Hail Marys are cool for God but maybe like apologize to your schoolmates too" and stuff, so, um...

Sorry for drunk texting everyone! I made cheesecake, it's in the lounge closest to the dining room.

[That's an apology, right? He grins, a little nervously like he's not used to doing this, and waves a little before the message ends. If you'd prefer action, he'll be in the lounge with the candlestick cheesecake.]

[Vel's video feed comes on to show her in her dorm room, leaning back in her chair and fiddling with a rather abused old-school My Little Pony. She's looking rather intensely thoughtful.]

Okay, so everyone's aware of the shit that's gone down the last few days, right? Lotta bad publicity for the mutant set t'say the least. And it got me thinking. I get the whole idea of the Xmen is to be heroes, and combat villains and all that fun stuff, but that doesn't make people like mutants. Fights are scary when you're not involved, even if one side's technically the 'good guys'. 'Specially if property damage starts happening. Normal folk don't care if the good guys win if it means the store that's their livelyhood gets bashed all to pieces. Y'know?

So like I said, I've been thinking. Normal folks think mutants are scary and stuff 'cause the news is all about stuff like the bombing in London and such. And I know the news only reports on bad stuff, but still. I think there needs to be... like a web series or something highlighting mutants being non-threatening. Mutants with less scary powers showing off what they can do.

[She gives a rueful smile and sets the pony on the desk in front of her, where it starts to gallop and jump around.]

And mutants using their powers for... like unthreatening good stuff that normals can relate to. Y'know, putting out fires, rescuing kittens, stuff like that.

Or maybe I'm just totally off base and should shut up and just finish my homework.

[The video shows a rarely seen place. Erm, that is to say, you see it a lot. It's hard to miss the big glass dome on top of the building, after all. But no students have been inside of it, certainly. At least not yet. Maybe some of the classes might visit someday, but either way we're getting distracted THE VIDEO IS IN THE GARDEN IN THE DOME there. It is well understood as being the personal space of the school's principal, Ororo Munroe. She is even more popularly known by the name "Storm".

Which makes sense as to why it was raining inside of there.
]

Greetings students. I trust and hope that you have found this first week of the new school year well. I understand how difficult a transition it can be for you new students as well. After all, these hallowed halls are quite a far cry from where I was before Professor Xavier found me.

But that is not why I am here to speak to you today. Enough have said plenty about how "the future is yours to make" and "we have all been there before" and other pleasant yet heavy things. I am here to speak about something more... fun!

It is a tradition that the second week of any given semester be dedicated to Club Week. In this tradition, we ask the students to form social groups around special interests and common hobbies. A gardening club, for example, would be more than welcome to join me here in the Dome. [She gestured to the almost rainforest like garden behind her with a smile.] This is also a chance for those who wish to join the ranks of the X-Men to begin taking interest in team building skills.

If you have any questions about Club Week, feel free to ask. In the meantime, I encourage you to explore ideas for groups, make Intranet posts advertising them, hold gatherings... you get the idea.

Peace be with you and yours, always. [She gives a small bow to the camera before it ends.]

Hello everyone, I hope you've all settled in nicely. Now even though I'm sure a few of you have already seen me on the network, all dripping wet and swearing like a sailor, I though it could be a good idea to introduce myself in a more formal manner.

[Yuui's sitting crossed legged on his bed with a black havenese mix breed in his lap, and smiling fondly into the camera. His voice is warm and smooth, and all in all rather pleasant to listen to.]

My name is Yuui Flourite and I'm going to be your teacher in home economics and power control, which means I will probably be seeing most of you at some point or another. Since this means that we have two teachers going by the name of Flourite this year it would probably be for the best if we simply skip the formalities and everyone can just call me Yuui. Less confusing that way. Besides, being referred to by my last name like this is making me feel so old. [There's the briefest pout before he's back to smiling again.]

Hm, since I'll be working here as an X-man as well I suppose you could also refer to me by code name if you happen to feel like it. [His smile grows a little bit wider.] But you're going to have to figure out what it is first.

Let's see, I think that's about it. If you ever need anything, have any questions or just want to talk or... something, you can always come by my office. My door, and windows, are always open. Also I have cookies.

[When Giselle flips on the video feed, she has a bright smile on her face and some freshly cut flowers in hand.]

Hello there, everyone! Welcome to our newest students and welcome back to everyone that was in stasis.

[She’s still not sure she completely understands how that works, but what she does understand is that years have passed without them. That’s got to feel strange, so she wants to do her best to be reassuring.]

My name is Giselle, and it’s lovely to meet all of you. It’s also nice to see old friends again. Oh, I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful year!

[There’s no hint of sarcasm in her voice, either. She genuinely sounds that optimistic about the future.]

If anyone new would like a tour around campus, I’d be happy to show you around. I know I was a little nervous when I started here. Everyone was very kind so don’t worry. This school can be a little unorthodox, but also a lot of fun.

[For a moment, she considers what else to mention. Things that students might want to know about beyond the basics.]

There are a lot of clubs here, so you’re sure to find something to keep yourself busy with. And if there isn’t a club for something you enjoy yet, then the teachers here are very supportive to students who want to get one started.

[She waves.]

Well, that’s it for now! Oh! Also, I have some romance books I’d be happy to loan out if anyone is looking for something new to read. Bye for now!
