[Kanji's trying to get homework done. Seriously. In a common room, surrounded by notes, a laptop (old, battered, with insulation taped to it) on the table in front of him...

Right. Let's do this. Let's ... get totally confused by the second question on the page. Literary analysis wouldn't even be his thing if it were in his first language, but English? It's definitely catching him out.]

What does the use of metaphor in this passage... ngh. Dammit.

[He screws up a piece of paper, hurls it across the room, not really looking at the direction it flies in.]

[Some time after the study attempts...]

Yo. I... kinda hate to say it, but... I'm lookin' for a bit of help, here. [A moment's pause-] Study tips. How to get this stuff to stick in your head 'n all that. I ain't smart, sure. I get that. But...

[He rubs his head, sighs.]

[Eren's taking to spending most of his time in public areas, since he doesn't care for his terrorist roommate. But at the same time, he usually keeps to himself. He tends to expect that his fellow students won't like him. Which is fine! He doesn't need to be liked! He's leaning over his book, head down, studying with great concentration.

He doesn't look up until the paper hits his arm and bounces harmlessly off. He doesn't know what Kanji's homework is, but he can identify with the general sentiment. He often wants to throw things. He gives Kanji a wary glance before speaking.]

Yeah... it's a pain.

[... Ah, heck, didn't mean to do that! Kanji realises soon enough, though, frowning and looking a touch apologetic. At least Eren doesn't seem too annoyed at it? Doesn't seem too happy, either...
...it takes him a bit to remember who Eren is. Right. That guy.]

Tell me about it. 'N, uh, sorry 'bout catching ya there.

[He says this a trifle tersely, but he seems more serious than annoyed. He picks up the piece of paper, though.]

I'd like to throw this book out the window! This stuff's not like what we did at home.

Pieces of paper with a question on one side and the answer on the other, or something to that effect. Some of my students use them for memorising phrases and vocabulary by putting the French on one side and the English translation on the other.

Well... [with a bit of a shrug] anything at the moment. I mean, I'm doin' a literature essay, but apart from that...

I find a cup tea or coffee combined with relaxing music helps me focus. As for getting it to stick, flash cards help immensely with math and language study.

Greg reached up to catch the paper that went flying at his head, and caught it! Which would be awesome... If.... he hadn't used the hand that had been on his staff to do it.

The paper, and Greg with it, would hit the ground with a loud thump.

"Right. Need the staff to stand," he muttered, from the ground.
