[At this point, people who were not previously familiar with her might start to realize that any time Emma Frost showed up somewhere, trouble was sure to follow. And this time, she seemed dressed to a more formal kind of trouble...]

Hello, darlings. I know you've all been working very hard, stepping up your training. I am especially proud of my Hellions. All those new X-Teams forming, keeping your chins up in the face of an uncertain future, it's all very inspiring...

... But doesn't it get a bit dull after awhile? Have we forgotten lately where we are? These are supposed to be your best years. It's spring, darlings. That means the most important event of your young lives is coming up.

I'm talking about Prom, darlings.

Don't you worry your pretty heads about the event itself. I've got it all planned out. We'll be having it on the last Saturday of April. And as for formal attire, I've covered that as well. The local tailors in Salem Center, as well as my good friend Feliks, will be more than happy to help you all.

So, I hope that announcement gives you something to look forward to besides getting all sweaty in the Danger Room... Ciao, darlings~

[See what we mean? Trouble. Nothin but trouble.]

[1: Network/Private to Claudine Renko/Voice]

I'm glad to hear they're letting you onto the intranet at least. Which is good because there is one more question I've been wanting to ask you...

[2: Action]

[Despite participating in the riots with a paper thin disguise, Liir has actually gotten more studious in the previous couple weeks, being on examplary good behavior. He's particularly eager to help out on any errand that takes him to the lower levels. You might catch him doing that, or speaking in low tones to a cockroach or something, promising it bed crumbs if it makes sure 'she' is ok.]

[3: Action]

[Becoming an x-person will mean going back into combat. He certainly can't rely on there being animals always available for that. So you can find him working with one of the long punching bags, repeating sequences of attacks. The repetition soothes him and the sweat cleanses him. Jab, fake cross which drops his level into a double leg...cover the face with the forearms, turn that into an elbow and clinch with it...it's balm for a mind that thinks too much.]

[You know you don't have to actually dress up for prom just to announce it, right, Emma?

See, look: shortly after the White Queen finishes stirring up the Institute's social circles, here's Ororo, for once not broadcasting from her indoor garden. Instead, she's actually working from the office, settled behind her desk, just to make clear that this address is going to be very prim, official, and dignified.]

Before you all get too caught up in making plans for this year's prom, one other announcement.

Under normal circumstances, we'd have hoped to have student voices involved in planning any event as important to school life as this one will be. The Institute is a second home to many of us, and it's essential that you all be able to make yourselves heard in your daily lives here. To say nothing of making room for those who wish to take on a leadership role...

[Storm folds her hands across the top of her desk and smiles, quietly pleased.]

However, as tumultuous as this year has been, there's not yet been an opportunity for you all to select who you would like to speak for you collectively. Charles and I have been discussing the matter...and we've decided that it's past time that you elected a student government. Those chosen will be responsible not just for communicating your interests to the school administration but also for representing you on matters of student discipline and school events and projects.

To that end, this month each high school class will be electing one class representative, who will each have a vote as part of your new student council. All lower grades, for the time being, will elect a single representative who will have non-voting input. [Sorry, kids, but you can only trust a super-powered 6th grader with so much authority.] And, finally, all students through the university-level will be eligible to run for the positions of student body president and vice-president, who will stand in charge of all council affairs.

Nominations will be open starting today, through the beginning of the next school week, and everyone is welcome to nominate either themselves or any of their classmates they believe would make a worthy candidate. Campaign speeches and the election itself will be held during the last week of April...so you'll all have the remainder of the month to make yourself known to your fellow students.

[In other words: Let the campaign season begin! Those are all the nitty-gritty details Ororo has to lay out for now, so she sits back and opens the floor for any response.]

Questions, students?
