What looks like a sword but won't hurt anyone?
It's important.
[Great description, Jack, very informative.
Since Saturday, Jack has been spotted a few times leaving his room to explore quiet places near the dorms, occasionally pocketing moneyand other random objects found on the floor or picking up oblong objects and testing them against walls. A few of them have caused cracks. Apparently his quest is getting stale enough to need help.]

...Sandwich toothpicks?

They're not big enough. And you can hurt someone with 'em.
[If you try hard enough.]

By that logic, there aren't a lot of things that look like swords that can't be used to hurt anyone. Unless they're made out of foam or something similar, I guess.

[Jack has yet to discover solid foam products.]

Ah? But foam can be cut into the right shape and painted...

A paper towel roll, maybe... What do you need it for?

[Give him a moment to try and measure it in his head.]
I want a lightsaber to play with Beast Boy. But I don't wanna hurt him.

[That's cute. Aren't they a little old for that, though?]
Maybe if you tape two together, it'll be long enough.
video;
Oh! That's smart! I've gotta try that...
...Do you wanna play too?

[He smiles amiably, friendly but somewhat reserved--and somewhat puzzled.]
...as to your question, I'm not quite certain what you've got in mind. If you're interested in sword practice but concerned about causing harm, the best option would likely by a nylon or polypropylene practice sword and some padded armor. If the armor's more of an investment than you're prepared to make, it is possible to purchase or construct padded mock swords, although it's difficult to get those to wield like the real thing.
Re: [video]
[It's like you're trying to speak to him, he knows it.]
I just want some toy swords to play around with.
Erh... I see. I apologize for the confusion on my part. I'm certain that harmless, foam swords could be purchased, at, ah... a toy store, perhaps, or on the internet.
[Ahem.]
I don't believe I caught your name, though.
[He's still getting used to how different the prices are in modern America.]
It's Jack.

It doesn't hurt that much, I don't think
[Flan you regenerate that's cheating. Though she adds a bit quickly a moment later:]
It's not actually made of crickets.
[Silence for like a minute after he looks at the cricket bats.]
...That can't be for playing. That is for killing people.
