My dear fellow students and esteemed staff members, can you possibly imagine what it's like to finally have the wealth of the entire internet to explore, after only every having access to what you could call the abbreviated version?

[Well, that is certainly a way of introducing yourself. Luvander is straddling a chair, draped over the backrest, and he's grinning expansively at the camera. The accents suggests eastern Europe, and the elaborate top hat on his head suggests that he's confused about what century it is.]

And if you didn't answer 'terrifying' to that question after some careful consideration, I honestly fear for your sanity. From what I've surmised so far, about two thirds of anything that isn't porn seems to consist of people religiously recording their pets, and that's the least alarming part. Oh, and bear in mind now that I am disregarding the instances where people apparently combine the porn with the pets.

[Luvander, do you have a point there? At all?]

The point- [Ah, there it is.] -is that I honestly have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing here. You could say that I am somewhat of a novice when it comes to social media, if you will. Twitter appears inane, Facebook seems to be a very polite way of stalking your loved ones, Tumblr scares me, and whatever that Reddit place is supposed to be, I can honestly say that I really don't want to know.

[For someone who doesn't understand what he's doing, he certainly seems to have a lot to say about it, at least.] So for now, I am limiting myself to the school network, in hopes that if I embarrass myself in some hideous fashion here, that is a completely ordinary occurrence in American high schools... at least if I'm to believe the movies.

Oh, and I suppose the lot of you can give me some tips? I have unlimited Google at my disposal and I feel I haven't been quite traumatized enough yet, so why don't you hit me with the best you've got?

[Luvander takes a moment to google this strange new thing, of course, and then he's laughing.]

That would be spectacularly unhelpful to me, actually. I can tell if something is wrong with someone just by touching them, but unless I've actually felt it before, I probably won't be able to tell what. No amount of reading is going to help that.

[And then he's going to... laugh some more.]

I'm perfectly aware, my dear. I grew up in barracks with not much privacy with a group of hormonal teenagers. I'm a bit too intimately aware of such things.

Please tell me you plan on working in the medical field. That is amazing.

[Zian is rather happy that blushing and stammering is not picked up by his translator, the somewhat robotic voice remaining flat even if the medic was deep purple in the face on the other side of the screen.]

Oh. Okay. That's good. I mean, good for knowing, not the other thing.

[Okay, being a dork kind of transferred well.]

Well, to be honest I would find it rather unconscionable of me if I didn't, don't you say? There's so much I could do, after all. And there's also a fair amount of damage I can do without the proper medical knowledge - both to myself and others.

[He makes a soft and somehow strangled noise, clearly trying to curb his own amusement at the embarrassment which he's pretty sure he's caused.]

Either way, it's not like I was planning of re-enacting anything of the sort anytime soon. Being a responsible new high school student and everything.

[Hey, Luvander looked normal enough to even ho to medical school. Gooo. Fulfill you destinyyy.]

You'd be a good doctor, I'm sure of it.

[Sassy as hell, but a good doctor.

Zian pauses a moment at the second comment, taking a deep breath to stop blushing like a damn idiot. he was a medic. These things were totally normal, especially for teens.]

Good. If there's any thought of re-enacting anything whatsoever there's free condoms in the nurse's office.

[Because kids are dumb and he knows it. Better to have safe sex if going down that awkward road.]

Thank you. The vote of confidence is truly appreciated.

[He's not just saying that, either. Truth to be told, Luvander doesn't really have a natural inclination toward being book smart, and he's a lot better at interpretation and discussion than actual hard facts. He's just determined to overcome this for the sake of a mutation which will never reach its full potential otherwise.

Oh, but he will definitely still let out a snort of laughter at the offer.]

Well, I will have to point out that there is no way for me to either catch or spread STD's, but since any potential partner of mine won't actually know that, the offer is appreciated.

Well, it's not just for that. We'll want to prevent any teen pregnancies, too... or for hygiene purposes between the gay students.

[He's getting into full medic mode, now, just making sure Luvander got all the info he needed. Kid was still young but this was a boarding school and there were a lot of hormones around.

Listen to the virgin, he's educated in this stuff.]

[Unseen, Luvander winces. Well, that had been uncommonly careless of him. Not that there was any danger involved in letting things slip anymore, he reminds himself, but that doesn't completely take the fear away. Old habits and all that.

He forces the words out nonetheless, his voice painstakingly casual and just a bit too bright.]

Yes, I don't imagine that the former will ever be much of a problem for me. But point taken, even I will bow to the necessity of hygiene, if only for the principle of the thing.

[defibrillating]

Good!

[He pauses, though. For all his dorkiness, he's not an idiot and that slight change of voice was noted.]

Sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable.

[Luvander laughs quietly, slowly starting to force himself to relax. See, no harm done there. He needs to stop being so embarrassingly wound up about things that are now spectacularly unimportant.]

It really wasn't your fault, my dear. There are just some things which people did best not to talk about, back where I'm from. Occasionally, I still act a little bit silly about it, and it's honestly for my own good if I get that out of my system once and for all.

[defibrillating]

[Zian smiles slightly at that, but the artificial voice cannot translate his warmth.]

Don't worry about it, I understand. My home country has the same issues, even if the mutant hatred is now overshadowing the rest. It's not silly.

Well, you could say I never had to deal with much in the way of mutant hatred - and since I kept my mouth shut, none of that other kind either. In general it was an environment as free of hatred as you can manage in a group of cooped-up teenagers - apart from in battle, of course, but that's not really person Alive.
