Third Daydream [Video]
Hey!
So like, I've been thinking. I know Mutants Aren't Monsters has been kinda quiet lately, 'cause I've been studying and X-man-ing and in Europe and stuff, but with all this stuff going down lately, I totally wanna get back on it.
Who wants to do a flash mob? It'll be super fun!
Oh, and like, my confessor was all like "the Hail Marys are cool for God but maybe like apologize to your schoolmates too" and stuff, so, um...
Sorry for drunk texting everyone! I made cheesecake, it's in the lounge closest to the dining room.
[That's an apology, right? He grins, a little nervously like he's not used to doing this, and waves a little before the message ends. If you'd prefer action, he'll be in the lounge with thecandlestick cheesecake.]

[He initiates a transfer to send Kanji a couple of image files. One is of him and Fai, several years younger, curled up on a couch together and singing into their hairbrushes in a big pile of flamboyant clothing, blond hair, and giggles. Another is of a pyrokinetic putting on a pretty fireworks show with her powers, and another is of someone with a very visible mutation volunteering at a homeless animal shelter. Each one has a handwritten message about the things they love, the things that are important to them, with a little "...and I'm a mutant" at the bottom.]
Did you get those? They're some of the old ones.

Does this stuff actually work?
no subject
[He lights right up, talking about his work.]
It's like, because a lot of us still try to keep stuff on the down-low, it's easy for people to get this image of "mutants" from the negative stuff they see, right? Like, "oh, they're dangerous" or "half of them are total psychos" or whatever. They don't see us as people.
So that's what we show them! Us. As people.
It's not gonna work on the real assholes, maybe, but a lot of people just don't know better, so it's important to reach out to them!
no subject
[Doesn't he know about that... just being seen for what, and not who.
(Not that he's ever really been the sort to try and break through that wall himself, mind.)
Looking away from the screen a bit, here.]
Too many real assholes out there, though.
no subject
For sure, but not as many as people think, maybe.
Anyway, the best thing to do about them is to keep people from taking their crap seriously! And coming right out and and showing everyone why they're wrong is one of the best ways.
[Also, hacking their websites and making a public mockery of them.]
[But that was only the once. So far.]
no subject
... what if you've proved 'em right?
no subject
...I mean, look. My first roomie? Something really bad went down with him before he came here, but he was the sweetest, nicest guy in the world. My best friend used mind control to get people to like him, before he came here. I know they're not the only ones.
But they're not bad people, and they are people. They're human -- I mean, not human human, I guess, but...
They... we make mistakes. Sometimes we do dumb stuff when we're backed into a corner. And we grow and learn, and... and we're so much more than just those mistakes, you know?
no subject
Damn.
[More slow nodding.]
Guess everyone screws up, huh?
no subject
[Which is why there's free cheesecake!]
But that doesn't mean we're not worth the same as other people.

[Feliks is going to brush aside the issue of what he DID imply, and what he might be keeping quiet, in favor of just trying to cheer him up.]
So since you're worth it, you're worth some rad cheesecake, too, right? It's my grandma's recipe!
no subject
[That makes him laugh a bit.]
Yeah, okay, man. That sounds good.
no subject
no subject
[And he will, indeed, fairly soon.]
no subject
[Have a plate, Kanji. There's cheesecake on it.]
Like, glad you could make it!
no subject
Heh, thanks. 'n thanks for the cake.

no subject
Well... gotta say it's an improvement on the last one.
no subject
[Feliks perches himself sort of oddly on the arm of the couch, back against the wall. It doesn't occur to him that that might be a touchy topic.]
no subject
Better'n the one before that.
[He takes a bite out of the cheesecake as if it'd personally wronged him.]
no subject
Well, that's totally something.
[He wonders if it would help to admit...]
At my last school, there were a bunch of guys who'd chase me down after class got out. Their aim sucked, and like, that's pretty much the best thing I can say about them, you know?
So this place is definitely better.
no subject
[Okay, perhaps there's a hint of a sympathetic smile at that comment.]
Assholes, the lot of 'em.
no subject
[He doesn't seem too bothered about it, because, well, he's not the sort to let things drag him down, especially not after so long. And...]
They like, outed me as a mutant to my parents, but it was super worth it to scare the crap out of them!
no subject
Huh. I guess things worked out...
no subject
Anyway, since I'm like, your... Oh, what'd Hajime call it. Sen-something... The point is, I guess if you ever want help getting settled in here, totally ask me, ok?
[Because it's a good place, and he wants other people to make the most of it and be happy here, too.]
