[This broadcast brought to you from the inside of the counselor's offices:]
Good afternoon. I hope everyone's first week of school has treated them well.
[Caelius has a naturally soft voice, and he's still not used to addressing students from the position of a faculty member; someone listening closely might hear him clear his throat before he continues, making sure the rest of his message is delivered with the correct amount of firmness in his tone.]
My name is Caelius Demetriou, for those of you that are new to the school this year. As one of your guidance counselors, I'd like to take a moment to remind all of you that if you feel there's a problem with your schedule, it's best to fix that sooner rather than later. Feeling like you've been placed in the wrong level of classes, wanting to switch this elective to that one... Any of that sort of thing, you need to talk to one of us to do so. Making a request is simple, so don't feel shy.
Now, that said— Everyone here has their own circumstances. And I know, for some of you, those circumstances aren't easy. Whatever that means for you, please remember that you aren't alone in how you feel, and that you don't have to go through feeling that way alone. If something is troubling you, whether it's big or small, there's no shame in talking to one of us counselors about it. [A half-joking levity creeps into his tone as he adds:] I can say with certainty that I went through being a teenager and a mutant at the same time, at least, so I know a little bit about it.
[And, well, if it's the kind of issue that causes problems, they might have to talk with him whether they want to or not, but he doesn't say that. It makes it sound too much like a punishment. His tone goes right back to earnest as he wraps the message up.]
In any case, just know that I leave my door open, so anyone is welcome to stop by whenever they have time. I hope you all have a good weekend.

If you really want to help, I guess there's no reason you can't... After classes, mind you, and so long as you keep your grades up.

[All of this is very much said in the kind of voice you'd expect to hear "eat your vegetables" in.]

... Should I add glasses to my wardrobe for this? Might help me look more official...

[He's a plain dresser, all said. And he definitely isn't much help where accessorization is concerned.]

Well, Cael. As someone who has been to more guidance counselor meetings than I've had b- [About to say 'blowjobs', realizes this is really not professional, changes track not entirely smoothly] -sparkly shoes, I can honestly tell you that this introduction... would have scared me shitless.
[He attempts to look somber for a moment, then grins.]
I'm sorry, I'm just being twee. It's really good to see this part of the work force has someone like you on it. It does rather hold a special place in my heart.
no subject
Would it? Really? [He's deathly earnest in his concern, of course.] I just— I know a lot of them will just write me off, but if even one student takes what I said to heart, then...
[He fidgets, his cheeks maybe turning a little redder than normal.]
I just want to help. That's why I chose this job in the first place.
no subject
Not everyone does it the same way. Thankfully.]
Trust me on this: Back when I was going to an ordinary high school, and I was constantly aware of the embarrassment of being kid with special needs... I would have wept with gratitude for this sort of approach.
[He beams, and maybe there is just a slight push of power to give emphasis to his words.] So don't second-guess yourself too much, okay?
no subject
Alright, alright. I'm trying not to. There's just a lot of new students this year, and I'm still not sure that whoever certified me for adulthood didn't make a mistake.
[He laughs, though, the sound and the accompanying smile sheepish.]
Thank you for the vote of confidence, in any case. I'll just have to take things as they come.

[Seriously, Fai doesn't even know where to begin with being given responsibility and authority all of a sudden - at least not without having to resort to blatant power abuse, and he suspects that is frowned upon.
So he'll... improvise.]
And considering this school, that's probably a good approach. Because I imagine there's no way to actually predict what the future will bring here. [Encouraging.]

I'm glad for the company, at least. Hopefully we'll have at least a little peace and quiet, though. I mean, we just got the place back in working order.
[It's probably naive, but let him have his dreams, okay.]
Private text
My name is Melinda Sordino.
[Her file should mention that she's one of the students who has spent the past five years in stasis and that while she's technically almost finished grade 9 already most of her grades are really, really bad which is why she's retaking it. But there are a few subjects, like biology and art, where her grades are significantly higher which is part of the reason she's been directed to a counselor. The file probably also mentions her power control problems, her frequent absences and that she needs to speak up more in class.]

[That said, having gone through the notes available to him, he has a feeling there's a reason why she chose to contact him like this. He'd rather speak in person, but her comfort isn't irrelevant. He waffles for a minute or two, but then he concludes his message with:]
If you notify me of what we'll be fixing ahead of time, it shouldn't take more than a few minutes of your time. We'll get you in and out quickly.
no subject
[Melinda relaxes a bit. She's still not looking forward to the meeting but maybe doing it like thing maybe she'll actually have some say in the decisions being made.]
They also probably want to make sure that my previous absences isn't going to be a thing again.
And then there's the whole having been stuck in stasis thing.
no subject
As for those other issues, they're something we'll likely need to talk about in person. I could give you a stern talking to about the absences, but without hearing why they happened in the first place, I don't think that would be very effective! I'd like to hear what you have to say, and if it's something that might still be an issue, we can talk about how best to handle it from there.
[He isn't especially confident in his ability to convey approachability over text. Hopefully his exclamation points seem friendly!!]
