[This broadcast brought to you from the inside of the counselor's offices:]
Good afternoon. I hope everyone's first week of school has treated them well.
[Caelius has a naturally soft voice, and he's still not used to addressing students from the position of a faculty member; someone listening closely might hear him clear his throat before he continues, making sure the rest of his message is delivered with the correct amount of firmness in his tone.]
My name is Caelius Demetriou, for those of you that are new to the school this year. As one of your guidance counselors, I'd like to take a moment to remind all of you that if you feel there's a problem with your schedule, it's best to fix that sooner rather than later. Feeling like you've been placed in the wrong level of classes, wanting to switch this elective to that one... Any of that sort of thing, you need to talk to one of us to do so. Making a request is simple, so don't feel shy.
Now, that said— Everyone here has their own circumstances. And I know, for some of you, those circumstances aren't easy. Whatever that means for you, please remember that you aren't alone in how you feel, and that you don't have to go through feeling that way alone. If something is troubling you, whether it's big or small, there's no shame in talking to one of us counselors about it. [A half-joking levity creeps into his tone as he adds:] I can say with certainty that I went through being a teenager and a mutant at the same time, at least, so I know a little bit about it.
[And, well, if it's the kind of issue that causes problems, they might have to talk with him whether they want to or not, but he doesn't say that. It makes it sound too much like a punishment. His tone goes right back to earnest as he wraps the message up.]
In any case, just know that I leave my door open, so anyone is welcome to stop by whenever they have time. I hope you all have a good weekend.

Well, Cael. As someone who has been to more guidance counselor meetings than I've had b- [About to say 'blowjobs', realizes this is really not professional, changes track not entirely smoothly] -sparkly shoes, I can honestly tell you that this introduction... would have scared me shitless.
[He attempts to look somber for a moment, then grins.]
I'm sorry, I'm just being twee. It's really good to see this part of the work force has someone like you on it. It does rather hold a special place in my heart.

My name is Melinda Sordino.
[Her file should mention that she's one of the students who has spent the past five years in stasis and that while she's technically almost finished grade 9 already most of her grades are really, really bad which is why she's retaking it. But there are a few subjects, like biology and art, where her grades are significantly higher which is part of the reason she's been directed to a counselor. The file probably also mentions her power control problems, her frequent absences and that she needs to speak up more in class.]
