Second Smash [Video]

[When the video starts, everything is dark for a few moments until a large green finger moves out of the way of the camera and a man's face appears which would be unfamiliar to all but a few. He scowls at the camera, clearly not the most technically savvy of people.]

The Danger Room's gotten boring. Which one of you puny mutants can give me a real challenge? I don't care if you're a student or a teacher.

[He leans in closer in an attempt to be imposing though it mostly just takes the majority of his face out of view.]

Show me what you've got.

[His hand envelops the device again and the video ends.]

[Alric raised his eyebrows at that, and barely stopped himself from breaking into a grin.]

...ah. With... all due respect... there was a time, when I was younger, and I responded to such insinuations out of childish vanity. In truth, it was fear, more than anything--fear of appearing fearful--that led me to accept such challenges.

It is simply a question of whether I would handicap myself, or not. If I do, I have every reason to believe I would offer you more frustration than challenge. If I do not... well. Let us simply say that I have enough blood on my hands for the sake of my pride, already. I have no wish to add even an ounce of yours. I'm certain there are others who can offer a challenge--those gifted with exceptional strength, or speed, perhaps--without reaching to the point of recklessness.

[He pauses there just a moment.]

Nn, I'm sorry, I don't believe we're properly acquainted. My name is Alric Caelegart.

[The longer he speaks, the more annoyed Skaar seems to get. It's not so much what he says as it is that he just seems to keep going and going. Neither versions of Skaar are known for being verbose, but this one apparently takes offense from it.]

You're already frustrating. If you're so sure that it'll be my blood you see, then prove it or shut up.

[Ah. Another one who feels threatened by words. If Alric's visibly peeved, it's just a brief flash; he's more deciding not to worry too much about getting involved in a dialogue with this fellow unless necessary.]

My apologies, then. Respectfully, I'm afraid I have higher priorities than offering that proof. Nonetheless, I wish you luck in your pursuit of a suitable challenge.

[The apology is pretty clearly a matter of being polite, whether it's going to be appreciated or not.]

Hmph, I bet. Next time don't waste my time or you'll be giving me proof whether you want to or not.

[Subtlety, thy name is Skaar. Whether or not he'd actually make good on such a threat or if he's just speaking out of anger isn't really clear.]

[...Alric gives him a brief sort of an "are we really doing this?" look and a quite sigh, but otherwise just sighs smiles politely all the same. Considering some of the people around, that could well be entirely sincere.]

Mm. I certainly hope it won't come to that.
