What's going on in District X? The news accounts are contradictory and it's hard to sort fact from fiction.

Liir catches Rin when they're both alone, at lunch (or at least he's alone, since he often radiates such a brooding aura it takes real effort to sit next to him, especially for telepaths).
"It looks like something big's about to happen. Now might be the time to leverage our positions..."
He doesn't pay much attention to Rin's 'newly' black hair. Maybe that's just a thing girls do regularly. He doesn't know, having just spent years in the Ozian army, which is not exactly a bastion of progressivism.

The ones that aren't beat down past caring, sure, they've got to be either hotheaded or brick stupid.
