I just got to the mall. The gift shop has pink and red cards out and they're bringing out the chocolate.

Wait, here come the teddy bears with love hearts.






There go the fluffy heart pillows.


... And finally the chocolate roses.

It begins.

We only just finished January!

And here I thought Valentine's Day was overblown in Japan. This is utterly ridiculous.

It's still strange, getting used to how different Valentine's is here in the U.S.

[Not that he particularly misses the awkward, delayed social mess that was White Day for him, back in Japan.]

It's less of a big thing here at the school, at least, if that's worth anything? Or it was my last year here, anyway.

It's more that I'm being blinded by the overdose of every shade of red and pink.

... And any second now I'm expecting a text from a friend freaking out and asking me what to do to woo his own love interest.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see, but if it gets too red I think I'll wear shades or something to cancel it out.

I'll be sure to ask for her. In the meantime, I am going to ask my relative. She used to make the best cakes around.

I wonder if I can get away with not making anything pink...
