It gives him time to read back over what he's written, double-check for typos, look a couple things up in his dictionary and make sure it's translating right, and generally put on enough polish to not sound like an eleven-year-old who's been in the country for all of two days.]

I used to go to the shrine every day back home. I don't think they're very common in America, but it seems like there are a lot of Japanese students here.

Is there anything like that on the school grounds? Or just a quiet enough place to go would be okay, too. I don't want to stop just because I moved.

I think it's quite nice outside, really! I just thought it may be more crowded when it warms up.

It's colder here than it was at home, but it doesn't seem that bad.

I think I read that it'll snow a lot more here, though.

I'm not from this town, but the weather seems about the same as what I'm used to. We'll probably have another snowstorm or two, at least, before the winter is over...
