Yo. So I've kinda got a question for people who've done this whole [waving a hand] "hero thing" before, or gotten involved in these sorta fights. What do you tell your family 'n all that about - this whole mess? Do ya tell them anything? 'Cause ma came to the big city for New Year's, an' we were talkin' about things... I just wasn't sure what to say.

I don't wanna go scarin' her, or get her involved in this mess. But I don't wanna lie.

Any thoughts?

And by the way, ma brought a hamper of stuff to share with friends. Shit, you'd think she was trying to make me explode: I've got enough here to keep me goin' for weeks. So... I wanna split this with you guys. You up for it?

[He wasn't tense before or anything, but the laughter seems to put him more in his own zone -- more the way he looks when talking to friends, or rattling on about something he's comfortable about. He shrugs, giving the camera a little grin.]

Mad legit. They're kinda awful, you know?

[He has a thought, and bursts out laughing.]

You could tell her they're like, for some kind of sports team! Or you took up weirdly X-themed interpretive dance or something?

[Scratching his head, glancing away from the camera-]

Yeah, I don't think she'd fall for either'a those, either.

Or I guess you could like, tell her straight-up, and tell her why it's important, and trust her to get it.

But how much fun is that?

Tch. [He gives a bit of a snort, but quietly-] I dunno, man. I've been in some ... tough spots before. I mean, I know this is important. But... I don't know how I could explain it and not make it sound like I was just gettin' into fights.

[Feliks switches the filter on, because he doesn't really much care for letting everyone in on his thoughts too much. The flighty, silly ones, sure, but the ones that are serious are kind of personal to him.]

Well, okay.

Like, as somebody who got into a lot of fights before coming here, too? I think the difference is... The difference is with the X-men, we're doing everything we can to keep it from coming to that.

And if people are gonna try and push us down and fight us wherever we go, whether we want them to or not -- then working together, learning to control ourselves, and trying to keep the peace, that's kind of the best we can do, right?

Yeah. I mean, that's - kinda what I'm tryin' to do with this. If I'm gonna end up fighting anyway, I want to be doin' the right thing when I am. I wanna make this work.

Right, exactly!

So training with the X-men, I mean... It's more about, like, learning how to fight without getting desperate and lashing out. Learning to control yourself, and hold back when you have to, and all that stuff!

...I'm still working on some of that, t-b-h.

[He's not good at keeping his temper when people set off his Fascist Jerk-dar, though he imagines he'd probably have learned to keep it in check more if his power were combat-oriented.]

Heh. Maybe if I put it as a "self control" thing she'd like the idea more. [Because doesn't he just know where his problem is.]

It's one thing the X-men are really good for.

[Pushing each other towards greater self-control. At least, that's been a large part of the way the older ones have mentored him.]

...Never really thought of it like that. I mean, sure, I'm learnin' control techniques and all but ... never really put that with the fighting stuff.

Context, dude. Like, punching a guy for making fun of your shoes is different from punching that same guy if he pulls a knife on people in the street, you know?

I mean, the point is... It's not like it's always bad to fight. And if we might have to anyway, learning how to do it and have everybody walk away is a pretty important thing!
