Honestly, the weirdest part is not that there's a random poem(?) now on the network. The weirdest part, for anyone who speaks the language, is she made the stylistic choice to write it all out in katakana instead of... anything more complex.

Anyway, I promise she won't go all tsun and yell about the ~*~screams of her pathos~*~, so approach to ask, maybe?]

Well, considering quite a few of us can't even read it, I'm sure it could have been.

Just a little practice with my native language, really. I need the practice, and poetry is an easy form. [There is something she isn't telling anyone, and it has nothing to do with the content of the poem itself.]

Oh, I see! I do the same thing, sometimes. Not with poetry, but I don't usually have much reason to dust off my Greek, so I have to find excuses to use it a little here and there.

Ah. I suppose poetry just works best with me because it doesn't have to be as cohesive as regular prose.

That makes sense. I guess I just don't have much of an ear for poetry myself.

I don't think I'm very good at it, myself, but practice is practice, right?

Unfortunately, I'm forgetting Japanese. I can't remember most of the kanji I'm supposed to use.

Just how to write it, or the words themselves, too?

Both, in many cases. In fact, as it stands, that poem is in Katakana right now because I am starting to forget any other way to write it. I suppose, if I had tried, I would have been able to write in entirely Hiragana, but there are kanji I cannot remember right now. And Katakana is coming easier to me than anything else.

I'm sure you don't know much of Japanese and why that is significant. I'm sorry.

You don't have to apologize. Whatever I do or don't know, you're not inconveniencing me by talking about it. It's true that I don't fully understand, but I have looked into the language a bit, so I think I get the gist of the issue.

Would relearning the language from the bottom up be an option? It might come back more easily with some formal practice.

I don't really know. When things disappear into this particular void, they don't tend to come back, especially at my age. I'm going to try reading some more complex things to see if it comes back up for me and that they didn't get lost to anything but some time, but I don't know how well it might work.

After that, I suppose it is down to trying to teach myself Japanese again from the ground up.

Either way, good luck. I wish I could offer more help, but don't know anything about the language beyond what your average tourist would.
