I wanted to make sure everyone knows: I'm boycotting all my classes. No matter what.

I don't agree with the mission of this school, and I'm being held here against my will! So I'm officially on strike in protest of your unjust policies!

[It's true, as was pointed out to him: if he's protesting, he should let everyone know about it!

He's still not sure about the hunger strike part of his plan, as he needs to eat a lot. But he boycotted Thanksgiving, so that's a start.]

You don't have to apologize. Now you know.

[He's actually a little surprised he was apologized to. Most people are quick to try and correct him—even though they're obviously wrong!]

[He's curious now. This guy doesn't seem like too bad of a person, but it seems like he was the one who was pro-mutant registration based on the flack he was getting from everyone else.]

Why are you a prisoner here anyway?

[garganteren]

I was taken away from my parents by the court. Now I can't go home. It isn't right.

[Tenma is asking him a simple question, so there's no hostility in Eren's response. He does feel defensive, however. He doesn't want to hear bad things about his parents. They can say bad things about him all they want!]

[soccerwhisperer]

[Tenma doesn't know the situation, nor does he know how deep it gets. What he does understand from that is that Eren must have loved his parents, and he's probably hurt by the situation. It's probably not a good idea to probe any deeper, especially since it's outside of his area of expertise.]

Oh, I'm sorry to hear about that.

One of my friends used to go to this school, but he got to transfer out because he had a lot of control over his powers and they knew he wasn't going to hurt people. Maybe if you can show you can do the same thing, they'll let you transfer too. I don't know if they'll let you go back to your parents, but it's a start, right?

[garganteren]

[Well, this guy's being okay about it. It still surprises Eren when mutants are reasonable. That's not what he'd expected. He doesn't offer any more information about his family situation. It's a part of his protest, but he doesn't want to go into the details, as they still hurt.]

Really? They let him leave?

[It's good to know that can happen, but he doesn't bother to get his hopes up. He knows he must be different than this friend Tenma's talking about.]

But I can't do that. My power's really bad. I can't ever use it again.

[They mentioned controlling his power, but he'd have to become that thing again.]

[soccerwhisperer]

He already had amazing control since he trained with some bad people before. He came here because he wanted to do more to make up for the bad things he did with those people, but he must have realized his place was by his brother's side while his brother was going through physical rehab.

[Okay now Tenma has something of real substance to say.]

You're just running away from your problems! What if something happens that makes you use your powers by accident? A lot of people can get hurt, and not just mutants.

[garganteren]

I didn't train with anyone. I didn't even know I had these powers. But you're wrong.

I'm not running away! What I wanted was to face up to what I did and stop it from happening again. I'm not going to be that monster again. You don't know what it's like. You don't know anything about it.

[soccerwhisperer]

You're right, I don't know what it's like or what you went through. But I know I'm scared I'll accidentally hurt someone too. It's easy to say you will never use them, but things happen. When you're scared, your body reacts on by itself and you find yourself doing something you didn't think about. If a truck comes at you, you don't think about moving, you do it.

Maybe you don't have to use your powers. Maybe you can learn how to use it, like what you have to do to make it come out, so you can stop it. But when you neglect it, you're not facing anything at all.
