Heya! I've been settlin' in pretty nice, so I thought now's the time to say hello. Don't want it to get too awkward, right? I'm not the wallflower type so I'd really rather not put off introductions any longer...

So! Introduce yourselves to me. I was promised I'd meet a lot of real interesting people here, so make your cases, 'kay? It's not fun if you're all just a bunch of boring sad sacks.

[An idea seems to occur to her all of a sudden, and her tone suddenly becomes a little more urgent.]

By the way, is there like...a gardening or architecture club, or somethin'? A girl's gotta know. For reasons.

[Reasons like knowing if there's a club that wouldn't mind lending out a wheelbarrow or something similar out to her.]

Well...hmm. You could still be my uncle! I mean, I was reading this book once where there were these two guys, and one of them was the other guy's uncle, but he was way younger than his nephew. That's kinda like a dad only cooler because uncles let you stay up late, right?

[By book, she means the popular manga JawJaw's Bizarre Adventure back home in Japan, but it's close enough.]

But only if you got all your homework done. [ Because that is what would really be important here, never mind the dead bodies etc. ]

[Orin sighs exaggeratedly.]

Yeah, yeah, Uncle Wizard, I'll get my homework done...probably.

[She has other, important things to do, too! Like...take naps. And text her friends.]

What?! Come on, you're not gonna make me give up on the dead things!

They're already dead, don't be mean to them!

Who says I'm mean?! I had a whole collection of friends back before I was in school, y'know, and I was real nice to them! I didn't make 'em do anything they didn't wanna do, and mostly all we did was talk...

[Orin takes a slightly more serious tone. It might be the first time she's ever taken anything seriously this entire conversation.]

My only friends were corpses for a long time, so I wouldn't do somethin' like that to 'em!

[ It's that shift in tone that throws him, rather than making him immediately uncertain about the fact that a) her only friends were corpses, and b) they apparently spoke to her. ]

Yeah! See, I get energy from being around dead or dying people, and then I can channel it back into a corpse to animate it...or make it talk, if I want. Mostly they talk about what it was like to be alive. It's just a body, after all, those are the only memories it's got...but their stories can be pretty interesting! That's why I like to collect interesting people if they die. Makes for better conversation.

[She doesn't kill them herself because that'd take the fun out of it - and, let's be real, it's too much work. She can channel the energy she absorbs offensively too, but it's pretty weak and not anything to write home about, so she doesn't even have a good method to do it.]

Wait, so--their soul is still in there?? And you get to talk to them?? [ Can she revive Abraham Lincoln? Although by now he's probably just bones...can bones talk? Probably not. He needs vocal chords. And lungs. Maybe she could build him some? And then they'd have a zombie Lincoln running around... ]

[Rin makes a noncommittal "hmm" noise. She's not too sure, really, but...]

Well, I guess it's more like...it's the body talking, not the person? I don't think I'm powerful enough to properly bring souls back, haha! Reanimation is different from, like, a proper resurrection. So the body remembers things and feelings from its old life, yeah, but new memories...they don't really stick. That suits 'em just fine, though, since there's not much to do but remember when you're a corpse.

So...you could use them to solve murders and stuff if they saw who killed them?

Yeah yeah, exactly! I'd make millions as a detective!

[In fact, she'd considered it as a career choice until she remembered she's got difficult-to-hide physical mutations. Not to mention all the work that'd go into proving the murderer had done it...you can't just say "Well, the corpse told me, so that's my conclusion" in court.]
