Heya! I've been settlin' in pretty nice, so I thought now's the time to say hello. Don't want it to get too awkward, right? I'm not the wallflower type so I'd really rather not put off introductions any longer...

So! Introduce yourselves to me. I was promised I'd meet a lot of real interesting people here, so make your cases, 'kay? It's not fun if you're all just a bunch of boring sad sacks.

[An idea seems to occur to her all of a sudden, and her tone suddenly becomes a little more urgent.]

By the way, is there like...a gardening or architecture club, or somethin'? A girl's gotta know. For reasons.

[Reasons like knowing if there's a club that wouldn't mind lending out a wheelbarrow or something similar out to her.]

Nah, my power doesn't really help... [No one's... pointed out that he kind of has way more stamina than should be humanly possible...] I've just always played baseball, from way before I even found out I was a mutant!

[Oh, that's right, there are people who don't know they're mutants. Orin's had the ears and tail since birth, so she forgets sometimes.]

Man, that must've been one hell of a discovery. I know, tell me about that! It's pretty obvious just by lookin' at me, but you look pretty normal, huh...what was it like thinking you were? I mean, if you don't mind talkin' about it, of course. We can keep talkin' about baseball instead if you prefer.

[Even the people who raised her were all underground for obvious, sometimes dangerous mutations. Simply put, she's never known anyone who didn't always know they were a mutant before!]

Huh? Uh, well, I mean... [Actually yeah this is not the most comfortable subject but he doesn't want to make her feel awkward for bringing it up]

Well, there was an [incident] accident where I almost died... well, I mean, I normally would have died, but then I didn't! [Wow, Koshi, what a story] I mean, like, the doctors all basically said it was a miracle that I survived, and after testing a bit and all that, well... they found I had the X-factor thingy that means it was a mutation. It was pretty crazy to find out... I mean, I was just mostly grateful to be alive still at the time. [Crawling up 6 feet of dirt makes you grateful for a lot of things] But, I don't know, it's not like... a cool mutation like shooting fireballs or anything I use every day so... it still feels kind of unreal, thinking of myself as a mutant.

[Don't worry, you're talking to the one person who does think his power is unholy and terrifying. No, seriously, she looks a little disturbed. On the other hand, though, it's kinda cool to meet someone else whose power technically revolves around death.]

So, your mutation is...not dying? Like, ever?

I don't know.

I mean, we only found out earlier this spring and I mean, obviously we didn't try to test it or anything! I mean, I kind of got stabbed last month but uh, that's not too different from before so I guess we know with proper medical attention I can survive being stabbed. [Like... a normal person can...?] That sounded stupid, didn't it?

I just mean we don't know and it hasn't been long enough to see if like, I'll stop growing and aging or something.

[If Orin wanted to go through the effort she'd volunteer to find ways to kill him herself, but it's a lot of work, and honestly, killing people isn't really her thing. Already dead people are great! But the thought of having to do the dirty work herself really takes the joy out of it.]

...Well, I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on ya! Since dead people are my specialty, it's kinda interesting to meet someone who's hard to kill...mostly weird, but, you know, kinda cool too.

[Plus she's already decided that if he ever does die, she's keeping his body. If he's so durable, what would happen to his corpse when it started to rot?! She has so many questions that it sounds like he doesn't have the answers to.]

I'm a necromancer! Sort of. I get more energy the more time I spend around dead or dying people, an' most of my powers revolve around reanimating the dead, so I thought maybe if people died a lot at baseball games it'd be a nice way to pass the time...sounds like that's a bust, though. 'Specially if someone like you is playing, that's one less person I can count on to kick the bucket.

[She can use the power she gets from the dead to do other things too, like generate concussive bursts, but let's be real: mostly, she uses it to move or talk to dead people.]

No, course not! Too much work, y'know? I figure the circle of life doesn't need someone tryin' to doodle in the sidelines. Everything dies eventually, all I gotta do is find it when it happens.
