[It's everyone's favorite quiet, scarred counselor, though some may be more familiar with Kariya as groundskeeper, since he's often out and about in the garden.]
Hello, everyone.
It's nice to talk to you again. We've all had a trying time recently, and I'm sure many of you have a lot you'd like to discuss. I'd like to remind you that you're always welcome to stop by and visit your school counselors.
I specialize in working with the younger students and in art therapy, but my office is open to everyone, even if you'd just like to come in for a cup of tea. It doesn't have to be anything formal.
[It's important that he help the student body in any way he can. That's his job.]
Oh, and one more thing! I'd like to remind you that it's that time of year again. Submissions for our school's literary magazine are now open. We're accepting writing and illustration and art of all kinds. Only the writing and visual art will be in the print edition, but videos and multimedia submissions will be posted on our website.
It's a good chance to express your feelings and creativity and share them with your fellow students. I look forward to seeing your masterpieces! We have a special section for staff and faculty submissions, too, so you teachers shouldn't feel shy.

[He's not one himself, well, not good at drawing or painting, but he loves the arts.]
I'm always happy to work with the teachers. If you think any of the students might benefit from art therapy, I'd love to help. I know some of them feel nervous about it, or they think seeing a counselor says something bad about them, but of course that's not true.
Unless you were referring to the literary magazine, but we could definitely use more staff involvement.

[Kariya is not much of a deadlines guy. He doesn't have a problem meeting them, but setting them for others is another matter.]

[Of course she's not interested. Why would you ever think that.]

[He looks genuinely delighted.]
We'll put the file up on the webpage.
[He won't do it himself, as he is hopeless with computers, but he knows it can be done!]

[Yes, he doesn't quite ... understand what that actually is. But he's curious!]

[Leysritt is as blank-faced as ever as she replies, but at least she's doing as she agreed to.]

How have you been feeling?
[In spite of her lack of evident emotion, he's a bit worried about her. But he does tend to fuss.]

[...
That's it, that's the whole answer.]
no subject
[She's obviously tricky to draw out.]
How are your classes going?
no subject
[She isn't doing this on purpose, she just doesn't see what else there is to say about the matter.]

[Kariya doesn't seem discouraged. His patience with the students his endless, even if his patience with other people isn't.]
Do you have a favorite one?
no subject
[Huh. She pauses, considering.]
...I guess it's math.
no subject
[He laughs, a little.]
I'm sure you're good at it. What do you like about it?

I like writing, but it's not for everyone. For me, it's a hobby. Do you have any hobbies?

That sounds fun. What do you like to eat best?

[Clearly, this is a serious matter!]

[And it's more expensive, how horrible!]

[He tends to shy away from titles and his own last name. He smiles. He does appreciate the question, though it's a hard one to answer. He takes it seriously.]
To be honest, everyone responds to trauma differently. It's hard to rate it on a scale. The same event can affect everyone differently, since people are all so unique. So maybe I'll need to do a little more research...
Let me ask you, how do you feel about it?
frick this is video btw
[He traces a big circle in the air with his finger.]
I've been doing this stuff since I was a kid, so this is all old news! I never had to defend a place before, but the actual fighting? Total snoozefest.
[Someone's trying a little too hard here, despite his light tone. Unfortunately, it's someone who's inclined to treat the very idea of himself being affected by combat as a big joke.]
gotcha, this is video as well
[Oh no, nothing makes him sadder than child soldiers. Who would allow this child to fight? It's a terrible thing, people using mutant children, or allowing them to be used, as weapons. But Kariya doesn't allow himself to get visibly upset!]
That's brave of you, but if you were upset, there wouldn't be anything wrong with that. I know even Professor Xavier was worried and upset. I was pretty scared, myself. I was afraid of people getting hurt.

[He chortles.]
We did good, huh?
video
But yes, you did. I'm very proud. The school is safe, because everyone worked together to protect it.

[Nothing like that happened last year, but someone could have a gift enabling them to .]
As long as it's a reasonable amount! What were you thinking of submitting?

You're very ambitious! What kinds of things do you like to write?

What's your name?

I think I might need to speak to someone, but is there any way of doing that without actually having to talk? Like via email or instant messaging or something?

I do work a lot with people who would prefer not to vocalize. Talk therapy isn't for everyone. If you'd prefer to discuss things online, I would be happy to talk with you that way.
