I keep looking at the calendar and getting anxious. Not only is it almost midterm time for me, I also gotta worry about Christmas shopping.

I mean, I could do all my shopping online, but that feels a bit devoid of the spirit, right? Father Christmas doesn't go around checking off Amazon wishlists, that's just devoid of humanity, right there.

So I propose this! When midterms or finals or whatever are over, let's all go on a group shopping trip!

There are lots of shopping centers in Manhattan, right? Something for everyone! We'll make it a big school thing, and everyone can chip in to get gifts for our loved ones and family and whatnot!

Well... I think it's a good idea anyways.

Oh, cool! And maybe we can help each other pick things out? I never know what to get my parents...

That sounds like it could be nice. Shopping for gifts to send back home is simpler online, but...if it's for friends here, it would be more thoughtful, finding something in person.

The only problem would be trying not to let anyone else going along find out what you're getting them.

[A short, mild laugh.]

That's true. It'd make it easier to run interference.

Though, I haven't even thought that much about how many people I need to shop for end-of-the-year gifts for yet, to be honest...

Ordering things is still more convenient, especially when you're busy. Or sending someone off with a list.

Awesome! My mom would probably be happy over a lot of the touristy things from the area but I think my dad wants something more practical... who are you gonna be shopping for?

That's a great idea Bridget! When d'you think we'd do it? After exams or just one a weekend or something??

Is it? I can't say I've ever thought much of Christmas, I'm not Christian and not interested in those sorts of dates at the moment.

That's true. I need to spend some time on it; gift-giving's different around here this time of year than it is back home.

[That and he has to figure out how to shop for all the former classmates who graduated while he was out of the time-line.]

Do you have a lot of people you'll need to shop for, back home?

Who's that? Like, a teacher you knew?

Yeah, it's really popular to go out on a date with the person you love on Christmas eve, supposedly a couple will last a long time if they do. Going to a love hotel after is also really popular. It's suppose to be really romantic with all the Christmas lights and trees and stuff.

But that time of year is also really tiring. My family has a lot of New Years duties to observe, and then taxes.
batteredbatter: (That doesn't sound right.)

Huh, cool... [He's kind of curious how but that seems a bit personal to ask] What sort of things is he into?

Eli hesitated back and forth then typed, "If you have room for one more on the shopping trip?" she hit send before she could chicken out.

Shopping? Well... I guess need to find something for ma...

[...never mind the fact that he desperately needs to find a better source for craft supplies than he's got at the moment. There's only so much he can raid from the classrooms.]
