[This is a weird one. People have definitely seen this girl around campus, for sure, but you ever get the impression there's just something... off? About her whole existence? Like she's not really there, just in your head? It doesn't help that the 'room' she's broadcasting from doesn't seem to exist in the whole campus...]

So I've been watching a lot of news lately... it was hard to watch news when I was with John, because he never really let us watch TV, and...

I have to admit, I'm afraid. I'm not really afraid of registering, I mean... Pretty much anyone can tell I'm a mutant. I can't really go out in public like normal people do. [But she looks normal? Weird feelings when you look at her too long aside.] But it's kind of about this Mutant Liberation Front and, you know... like... Ugh, this is hard to put into words.

What would happen if that war everyone's worried about happening won't be between the US and Genosha but... more like a civil war right here? Between mutants and humans.

I... did notice something of a trend overlooking the records. Going back nearly three decades, this place has been attacked at least once every couple of years. It sort of makes sense, given who we are and what we represent. And the idea that kids supposedly make "easy targets"...

But you'd think that the fact it's always rebuilt, always bounces back, and no one's ever "succeeded", people wouldn't try anymore.

I'm not trying to be a pessimist, but you have to look at all sides. If it's not the Mutant Liberation Front, it'd be the Brotherhood getting back together, or Genoshan sepratists. And on the other side, you have stuff like Friends of Humanity, or our apparently awol Dr. Trask. Combustible elements all around.

... I guess the foreign students could leave the country, but I get the impression that's not really a better choice. A step sideways rather than a step forward.

Well we're not like, you know... the Jews in Central Europe or the ethnic minorities in former Yugoslavia. We have super powers. It would get ugly, fast. Not long simmering, we're talking immediate escalation.

When you think about it in terms of the overall history of human beings, it hasn't been forever at all. In fact, you can believe a civil war of some kind is going on in some part of the world at any given moment. It's not really pessimism, just being realistic.

The Mutant Liberation Front, the Friends of Humanity, they're both chomping at the bit, wanting an excuse to fight.
